In the winter of 1999, we did a survey of call names of modern sled dogs (whose owners were) on Sibernet-L, Malamute-L & Sleddog-L. We weren't concerned with the registered names, just the common names used in everyday living. "Come, Tosha." "Leave it, Misha." We heard from 3000 sled dogs with 1800 different names.

There are three main types of sled dog tours. Wheeled sled tours, where dogs pull a wheeled sled, glacier sled tours, where you fly up to a glacier to take a ride on the snow of the glacier, and winter tours.
